Start of construction of apartments on the roof

The renovation activities at the Scheldeplein are making good progress.
The façade renovation was completed some time ago, and the basement beneath the former ABN AMRO space (on the corner of Geulstraat) and the ground floor are ready for use. The structural modifications in and on the building have already been completed, and we are now ready to start with the construction of the nine apartments on the roof. The necessary installations for the apartments have been put in place between the steel girders, the insulation is in place, and the reinforcing bars are ready. The first floor slabs have been installed, and the floor will be poured this week. The steel structure and the timber frame construction will then be assembled, followed by the roof.

The target is to have the apartments wind and waterproof in the 2nd quarter of 2022. In the 3rd quarter, the construction work on the apartments will be completed.

The two- three- and four-room apartments range in size between 90 m² and 150 m². The apartments are accessed via a corridor running through the middle of the roof area. Each apartment has its own outdoor space. The apartments on the Geulstraat side (north) each have a protected terrace under a pergola (adjacent to the corridor) that is level with the rest of the apartment. The apartments on the south side each have a spacious roof terrace.

The apartments will be finished in high-quality materials and fitted with luxurious bathrooms and a spacious kitchen with cooking island. The interior of the apartments was designed by Osiris Hertman Studio. The combination of dark colours and natural materials, such as wood and natural stone, creates a warm, unique, and atmospheric ambience.

The apartments will be delivered at the end 2022. Potential tenants can submit their applications starting in the 3rd quarter of 2022, at which time the rental prices will also be announced.
