De Karel is on the way up!

The construction of the new De Karel building (phase 2), at Karel du Jardinstraat 67 in Amsterdam, is making excellent progress! The concrete for the second floor was laid in the first week of the new year. Next week, the prefab stairs connecting the first and second floors will be fitted in the ‘maisonette’ apartments, each of which will be over two floors. The prefab balconies will be added next month, and the second-floor walls erected, so that the concrete for the third floor can be laid at the beginning of February. We expect the structural work to be completed by early June 2021, after which work can start on the façade and the roofs.

Eventually, 24 two-room apartments will be housed in four storeys in the complex, with each having its own outdoor space. The apartments will each be finished with a wooden floor, lighting, and kitchen and sanitary fittings. The ground floor will have a communal function, although the user is not yet known.
It is expected that the apartments will be completed in November 2021. The apartments are intended for the middle-sector of the rental market. Potential tenants will be able to register from the second quarter of 2021. As soon as more information about this is available, we will publish it in our letter and on our project website.
