Renovation of Scheldeplein 1-5 in Amsterdam started!

The contractor, Kondor Wessels Amsterdam, has started with on-site preparations for the renovation including the placement of construction fencing at Scheldeplein 1 (in front of the former ABN AMRO bank).

The entire redevelopment project consists of the following elements and will be carried out in phases in the following order:

  • The existing cellar area underneath Scheldeplein 1 will be expanded.
  • The façade will be renovated and returned to its original state. The brickwork and granite will be repaired, and the existing plastic/aluminium frames will be replaced by slender steel profiles. In addition, the height of the tower will be increased and the glass lantern – which was removed at the end of the 1970s – will be reinstalled on the tower.
  • A new floor will be added with nine rental flats. The three-room and four-room flats will vary in size from 90 m² to 150 m² and will each have their own outdoor area.

A detailed description of the project is available on the project website: www.scheldeplein.amsterdam.

The project is expected to be completed within a period of approximately two years. As soon as a definitive construction timeline is available, we will place it on our project website.

Rental prices for the flats are not yet known.
