Construction pit for basement of Heineken Hoek almost excavated to maximum depth!

The Deegen company is presently finishing off the excavation activities, and has almost reached the maximum depth of the basement (5 m below ground level). In mid-November 2021, the building contractor, J.P. van Eesteren, will start laying out the construction site. The pile driving activities will start at the beginning of November, to be carried out by Gebr. Van ’t Hek. The method chosen will involve bored piles, which is vibration-free and will result in a minimum of bother for the surroundings. The planning calls for the foundation piles to be installed by the end of December, after which the contractor will start on the building shell of the Heineken Hoek basement in January 2022. The tower crane will be put in place in mid-January 2022.

The contractor, J.P. van Eesteren, will periodically distribute an information newsletter describing the progress, planning, and other relevant activities. The contractor will distribute the newsletter in the neighbourhood of the Heineken Hoek, and we will also place the newsletter on our project website The first newsletter can be accessed (create link to newsletter) here.

The new Heineken Hoek will consist of six floors and an underground basement level. The restaurant and catering facilities will be located on the basement level, the ground floor, and part of the 1st floor. The remaining upper storeys are reserved for a high-quality four-star hotel. The building will have a double exterior shell: an inner wall (thermal envelope) and a glass outer façade. The inner façade will feature white plate material in a triangular pattern with three different depths, creating a subtle relief. This material, colour and pattern will continue into the roof, with the same elements determining the look. The outer façade (the so-called “2nd envelope”) is constructed from glass triangles positioned at a variety of different angles.
The planning schedule calls for the new Heineken Hoek to open its doors in the summer of 2023.
